A LaTeX Resume Builder You Don't Need to Install
moderncv produces some of the cleanest-looking resumes around, but a local TeX install, a resume.cls boilerplate, and a cryptic compile error are a hard sell for anyone who isn't already a LaTeX user. This fills in a plain web form and compiles it to a real moderncv PDF on the server — no TeX distribution, no terminal, no account.
Why it's actually LaTeX, not a lookalike
A lot of "LaTeX-style" resume builders render HTML to PDF and call it a day.
-
1
Real moderncv
Your data is assembled into an actual
moderncvdocument and compiled withpdflatex— the same package and engine LaTeX users reach for by hand. -
2
Three styles, one engine
Casual, classic, and banking — all moderncv variants, all compiled the same way. Switch between them without retyping anything.
-
3
No compile errors to debug
The LaTeX special characters, spacing, and page-break handling are already worked out. You fill in fields; the typesetting just happens.
Common questions
Do I need to know any LaTeX to use this?
No. You fill in a plain web form (experience, education, skills, etc.) and the server generates the .tex source and compiles it for you.
Can I download the raw .tex source instead of the PDF?
Not currently — the export is a compiled PDF only. If you need the underlying .tex to keep hand-tweaking it yourself, this tool isn't that — it's aimed at getting a clean PDF without touching LaTeX at all.
Which moderncv style does it use?
Your choice of three: casual, classic, or banking — all standard moderncv styles, picked at export time alongside an accent color.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Your CV data lives in your browser's local storage. The server only sees it briefly while compiling the PDF, then deletes the temporary files immediately afterward. You can export/import your data as a JSON file if you want your own backup or version history.
